- There are 23 children in our class and we are all 5 6 or 7 years old. Mrs Carruthers is our teacher. We live in the beautiful Bay of Plenty at Mount Maunganui. Omanu is a lovely long surf beach so many of our class go to Nippers in the summer and we are learning to be surf life savers

To answer your question I think the Mount is special because it has such beautiful views and it is such a lovely place to walk around. I think there are not many places in New Zealand that have better views. From Mrs Smith.
Hello Room 16. I am Patricia and I made Patrick and Donna. Remember me? To answer your question about why the Mount is so special I think it is because it has such an interesting history. Did you know that before the Pakeha people came here the Maori who lived on Mauao thought it was a very good place to live because they could see for miles up there. They felt safe up there because they could see if any enemies were coming. Being up high meant they could stop the enemies getting up to them if there was a fight. From Patricia
ReplyDeleteHi Room 16, I am a friend of Mrs Carruthers' and she told me to check out your blog. I live in Christchurch but I used to live at the Mount. I think it is a special place because it has such a wonderful surf beach. There are many different surf carnivals at the Mount Beach and people come from all over New Zealand to take part in the competitions. It is famous because of that. I hope this helps with your study.

Hi Room 16, We love the walk around and up the Mount. Will and I like to see how many kingfishers we can spot, and see if the seal has turned up to sun itself on the rocks. The shags are great too, but pretty smelly! Our favorite walk is the goat track.

I think the Mount is very special because there are a lot of things to do at the mount that are free and fun like;

Hi Room 16. I'm Benjamin's Mum. I have only lived here for 2 months but I think the Mount is pretty special because the beach is so beautiful. I especially like walking around Mauao on a windy day and watching the huge waves crashing up on the rocks. There are also lots of nice places to have coffee and not much traffic!

Hi Room 16, I was just talking this over with Kaden and we think the Mount is special because it use to be an active volcano and now it is just a peaceful place where we have fun exploring. When we are there we try and imagine what it used to be like along time ago. By Wayne.
